Oregon Coast Wedding Photography: Amira + Noah at Camp Magruder
When artists get married, their weddings are always especially beautiful. So it was with Amira and Noah’s lovely Oregon Coast wedding at Camp Magruder last September.
I first met Amira when she was a bridesmaid in Tim and Sylvie’s wedding in Minneapolis several summers ago. We all live in Portland, Oregon, but travelled to Minnesota for the wedding. Since then, I’ve worked with her several times, photographing her beautiful jewelry designs and making some environmental portraits to help promote her business. I was excited to photograph her wedding because I knew that she had great taste and the skills to translate her artist’s eye into very photogenic wedding. And she and her financé Noah didn’t disappoint!
I especially love all the thoughtful DIY details they were able to put together: the wedding favors were adorable handled-mason jars filled with camp-friendly goodies and a lovely hand-drawn map of the camp. (The jars themselves were customized with guests’ names and cabin assignments, and doubled as the glassware for the weekend of festivities, a clever way to cut down on waste!) Their handmade Chuppa was woven from fabrics with sentimental significance and adorned with photographs of family members decorated with beautiful handmade baubles. And the reception hall was decorated with strings of twinkle lights and colorful paper cutouts. I love the way all of these elements come together to make an event that was truly unique to the bride and groom’s aesthetic and talent. Not even the downpour that soaked us on our way from photos to the reception could put a damper on the beautiful day!
