This tiny church is one of my favorite places in Portland for a tiny wedding. It’s super small and intimate, but the stained glass, big chandeliers, and beautiful light streaming through the big windows make it feel very stately and grand. And Sellwood Park, only a short block away, always provides beautiful opportunities for lovely photos with the happy couple. So I was delighted when Aaron and Kacie called about photography for their small autumn wedding. . .
Elder Hall is probably my favorite Portland venue for an intimate wedding. It’s super cozy and really homey (if your home is adorably and thoughtfully decorated and has a big, beautiful fireplace). So I was really excited to shoot this tiny wedding with Josh and Jessica and their families. Especially with the frequent protests-about-all-the-kissing and the occasional photo-bomb from Jessica’s two adorable daughters. . .
Perhaps the highest compliment you could possibly pay me is contacting me to photograph your wedding before you even have a date for your wedding. That’s what John and Paulina did - I got an email from them back in 2018 when they were in the very early stages of their wedding planning and we’ve been in touch ever since. We had a beautiful engagement session last summer at Cape Kiwanda (one of my favorite spots on the Oregon Coast), but plans for the big day remained in flux. And then, as if by providence, the plan for this lovely intimate elopement came flying together at the end of February - they wanted to get married on Leap Day. . .
Finally - my last wedding of the 2017 wedding season, and what a beauty! Abbie + Matt had a lovely, intimate, family-centered wedding ceremony at Oaks Pioneer Church in Sellwood, and then a casual gathering of close family and friends at the nearby Corkscrew Wine Bar. Spending the day with this adorable family was a great way to close out a fantastic year! I love the stained glass and big windows in the church, and Sellwood Flower Co. did an amazing job on floral arrangements and bouquets that looked and smelled just gorgeous. And Sandy Shipley of Sage Creative performed a lovely ceremony that included the couple's family - so unique and special. . .
Compared to the crazy weather Portland has had for the last month or so, the snowfall on Lisa and Michael's beautiful Elder Hall wedding looks fairly quaint, but I remember being pretty concerned about the weather the day before. . . but Elder Hall in North Portland is such a lovely, warm place to come in out of the snow. Add some delicious food, whiskey, and good friends and family and the day turned out perfect - intimate, warm, and a ton of fun. I am so honored to have been a part of it!
It's such a treat to work with clients like David and Sandy. They told me in no uncertain terms that they wanted to do whatever I needed to get great photos from their wedding, and they weren't exaggerating. All day long, whether I was suggesting we hike over here, climb that thing over there, escape for the sunset, or gather by the fire to make s'mores, they were game for it all. And we have so many beautiful photos to show for it! Add to that their lovely and easygoing family and friends, the beautiful scenery at the farm, and the gorgeous weather, and I have to say, this wedding is quickly becoming one of my favorites...
