I’ve been spending a lot of time lately in beautiful Cathedral Park, under the iconic St. John’s Bridge in North Portland, and I can’t say I’m tired of it yet. Maybe it’s because every time I go there, there’s a beautiful new spot in bloom, or that I somehow hadn’t noticed before (like the lovely white flowers in the photo above), or maybe it’s because every time I visit I get to spend time with new lovely photography clients. It could also be the great light and that handsome bridge. At any rate, Meagan and Cody drove down from Seattle to visit their venue, taste some cake, and spend a couple hours with me and my camera in the lovely golden-hour light. I hope they had as much fun in their visit as I had shooting with them!
I’ll admit it: at first, I didn’t really understand why Joel and Kelley were getting married at 9:27 in the morning. It just seemed so early. But they were carrying the Pi Day wedding theme to the last decimal they could – 3.14.15, 9:27am – and you just have to admire that kind of commitment. So I met up with them (and Joel’s lovely parents) at Portland’s beautiful Cathedral Park bright and early so that we could take some photos before the ceremony. It was rainy and a little bit chilly, but the light was just right and the happy couple were just adorable. I was honored to be a part of their beautifully intimate wedding ceremony. And afterwards, when they went off to have a delicious celebratory lunch at Salty’s, I went home and took a nap. So a pretty perfect day all around. Congratulations, you two!
This is a first for me: two lovely maternity sessions with two lovely sisters in two short weeks! I had a fantastic time with Holly’s sister Leia and her family just a few weeks ago, so I was really excited to meet up with Holly and Jake in Portland’s gorgeous Cathedral Park. Portland treated us to a beautiful spring-like February afternoon and I got to take pictures of these two being adorable. So lots of winning, is what I’m saying.
Oh. My. Goodness. That hat! Those cheeks! Throw in some lovely parents and a gorgeous Portland fall day, and I think this McCleay Park family session with 6-month-old Chase is a big winner. Many thanks to Chase’s Auntie for gifting this session to her sister as a baby gift! (In my humble opinion, professional baby photos make a fantastic shower gift. Just sayin’.)
I’m a lucky photographer to have such amazing clients. I photographed her parents’ wedding last year and their maternity session earlier this year, and now I get to photograph beautiful baby Serena! I just love watching these families grow!
I love it when my wedding photography clients call me for maternity and baby sessions! So lovely to meet up with Adam and Anne at her family's vineyard where I photographed their wedding a year earlier. Hooray for adorable, growing families!
Anne and Adam were married at her family’s Oregon Vineyard late last summer. When we met up the weekend before, it was pouring down rain and Anne was a little nervous about their lack of weather contingency plans. Adam had complete faith, though, and turned out to be right — their wedding day was clear, sunny, and VERY bright.
I’m going to lay these cards on the table right here — the photograph above was accomplished with equal parts luck and doggy bribery. Sure, a glowing, photogenic expectant mother and an adorable dog sound like a recipe for automatic success, but if you’ve ever tried to get pictures with your pet, you know that this is not always the case. Certain stars have to align, and I’m sure glad they did.
As for the rest of the shoot, it was hard to go wrong with this amount of cute all in the same room (or yard, as it were). Full disclosure: Brigitte found the idea for the basketball photos on Pinterest and loved them, so we made them happen, with the clever addition of Eric’s old-school Celtics jacket from when he was a kid. Stay tuned for newborn photos (I’m sure there’ll be even more cute to come!)
